Needle Mat

    Needle felt can be divided into chopped fiber needle felt and continuous precursor needle felt. The chopped fiber needling felt is to cut the glass fiber roving short into 50mm, randomly lay it on the substrate pre placed on the conveyor belt, and then use the needle with barb for needling. The needle will pierce the chopped fiber into the substrate, and the crochet will take up some fibers to form a three-dimensional structure. The substrate used can be a thin fabric of glass fiber or other fibers, and the needle felt has a fluff feeling. Its main uses include heat insulation and sound insulation materials, heat lining materials and filter materials. It can also be used in FRP production, but the strength of FRP is low and the application range is limited. Another kind of continuous precursor needle felt is a kind of felt in which continuous glass precursor is randomly thrown on the continuous mesh belt with a wire throwing device and needle punched through the needle plate to form a three-dimensional structure in which fibers are connected with each other. The felt is mainly used in the production of glass fiber reinforced thermoplastics stamping sheets.

Continuous strand mat

    The glass precursor formed in the drawing process or the continuous precursor withdrawn from the precursor cylinder is laid on the continuous moving mesh belt in an 8-shape and bonded by powder binder. The fibers in the continuous glass fiber felt are continuous, so it has a good reinforcing effect on the composites.

Chopped strand mat

The raw glass (sometimes also roving) is cut into 50mm long and randomly spread evenly on the mesh belt. Then the emulsion binder or the powder binder on the spreading agent is then heated to solidify and then cut into chopped strand felt. Chopped felt is mainly used in hand pasting, continuous plate making, die pressing and SMC process. The quality requirements for chopped strand mat are as follows: ① uniform area quality along the width direction; ② The chopped precursor is evenly distributed in the felt surface, no large holes are formed, and the binder is evenly distributed; ③ Moderate dry felt strength; ④ Excellent resin infiltration and permeability.
